The adapter, DK-12 is used to convert a round eyepiece for mounting on a rectangular eyepiece camera body.

Some Nikon DSLRs incorporate a round viewfinder eyepiece, and others use a rectangular eyepiece mount.

Used with select Nikon D-SLRs, the DK-12 was needed to use the DR-4 Right Angle Viewfinder.
